About

I'm Giovanni, born and raised in Burkina Faso, currently based in Hanoi, Vietnam.

I build things that are actually useful, AI-powered food compliance tools, 3D floorplan converters, LiDAR detection pipelines. My work lives at the intersection of academic research and production software. I take ideas from papers and turn them into systems people can use.

My path: studied CS and Entrepreneurship in Burkina Faso, moved to Vietnam for a Master's in AI & Multimedia Systems (VNU Hanoi / University of La Rochelle, France). Since then, I've been working across Africa, Europe, and Asia, publishing research, shipping software, running a food systems newsletter, and co-founding FOODSCAN, an AI food compliance platform.

I like to say coding is like cooking both need creativity, precision, and love for the craft.

What I'm working on

• FOODSCAN: co-building an AI platform for food compliance and certification, targeting SMEs and certification bodies.
• 3D Computer Vision research: pursuing PhD opportunities in 2D-to-3D conversion and 3D asset management, affiliated with ABIL Lab.
• AFIA Newsletter: monthly intelligence on the African food industry.
