About

I'm Giovanni, born and raised in Burkina Faso, currently based in Hanoi, Vietnam.

I build computer vision systems that have to work on real inputs: inspection running in real time on a production line, reading and checking product labels, and reconstructing 3D space from photographs. My work sits between academic research and production software. I take ideas from papers and turn them into systems people can use.

My path: studied Computer Science and Entrepreneurship in Burkina Faso, then a completed M.Sc. in Intelligent Systems & Multimedia, a double diploma from VNU Hanoi and the University of La Rochelle, with research on 3D reconstruction. Since then I have been working across Africa, Europe, and Asia, publishing research, shipping software, running a food systems newsletter, and building FOODSCAN, an AI food compliance platform.

I like to say coding is like cooking: both need creativity, precision, and love for the craft.

I work in French, English, and conversational Vietnamese, and I am comfortable working across time zones.

What I'm working on

• FOODSCAN: building an AI platform for food compliance and certification under AIOBI, targeting SMEs and certification bodies.
• Industrial inspection: real-time colour and count inspection on a production line, classical computer vision on a Raspberry Pi reporting to a PLC.
• 3D reconstruction research: pursuing PhD opportunities in 2D-to-3D conversion and spatial AI. Affiliated with MSI Lab at IFI-VNU under UMMISCO, and with ABIL Lab.
• AFIA Newsletter: monthly bilingual intelligence on the African food industry.
